Matthias Kurwig is founder of Planetactive - one of the leading digital full-service agencies in the German-speaking markets. Matthias Kurwig had started his first successful software company in the early phase of electronic publishing. He established partnerships with NEXT Computer Inc. in California and Scitex Leaf in Massachusetts, which let to the development of Retouche, a professional image editing application for Steve Job’s operating system NEXTstep. In 1993 Matthias Kurwig sold Retouche to Color Tomorrow Inc. He joined the US company as a partner and took over the responsibility for a project on behalf of the State of Hawaii in the following year.
Back to Germany Matthias re-engineered the Duesseldorf-based advertising agency Adpoint in 1994. He extended the original scope of business in significantly increased profitability by founding Prepoint Prepress Service GmbH. 1995 he became director of New Media and Technology at Mediahaus Stroebel Group – Germanys largest independent media agency. From 1996 Matthias has been developing the division into IQ Interactive Quality GmbH, a full service multi-media agency that in 2000 became Planetactive.
Matthias is a frequent speaker at conferences like Online-Marketing-Duesseldorf, InternetWorld Stuttgart, Communicate! Cologne, Seybold Conference Boston and Medientage Munich, and has been featured in many trade publications.
